PIEDMONT

Piedmont lies in north-western Italy, bordering France and Switzerland. Despite its northern position, it gets relatively low rainfall, due to the rainshadow effect of the Alps. Summer temperatures are comparable with Bordeaux in France.

TUSCANY

Tuscany is a hugely popular area with tourists from all over the world, who are drawn by its idyllic historic hill towns and villages and Renaissance heritage. It catches the cool winter temperatures and wet weather that roll down from the north, yet it’s not far enough south to be scorched in summer. All this helps shape its famous wines, such as Chianti Classico and Brunello di Montalcino.

VENETO

This area in north-east Italy is protected from the cooler, northern-European weather by the Alps. This allows not only white grape varieties to grow well, but also grapes for sparkling wines.
